Reports have been that chase has STOPPED matching the 140k offer for now.
So looks like I'm maybe DAYS too late?
See how carefully I worded my statement above about the 140k offer? I 100% knew that it wasn't 100%. But DANG.
(and I guess app'd days late, still have to get card and meet spend, but..you know)

I emphasize because I know people skim. xD haha.
Definitely still try. But there was a slew of people on FT getting matched, and then a few people started getting denied.
Still waiting for a reply from Chase.
Obviously if they say no I will be applying for the Amex PRG in the next few weeks.

Just be aware the 2 free night certs can EASILY be worth upwards of $1000
I am seriously torn.
After researching even more and finding out basically how strict the $300 travel credit really is, or can be; the only thing that makes the Ritz attractive to me is the signup bonus! I don't think I could justify having the card for longer than 1 year and paying the annual fee for the second time. Also, I really wanted the 140k bonus offer and now I know it's no longer available it might just have to wait.
As for the Amex PRG, I think I could see myself retaining the card for years, but the signup bonus doesn't stand out as much (which I guess shouldn't be the only reason to apply fo a card anyway).
Both cards offer free AU cards which is also good as I would be giving one to my fiance to boost my spend/points.
WIll be looking into how many of the airports I would be travelling through have Lounge Club available, not sure I can justify this for another ~$200 though as I have been to dozens of international airports and never used a lounge pass etc. Also, will have to look into what the Amex $100 travel credit could be used for now...

Amex credit can be used for most anything. They reimburse automatically any airline charge and aren't very strict in the gift cards.

Except in flight wifi
The ritz card shines because of the marriott gold status, and the ritz carlton stay benefits (club level, and $100 credit)
If you're not going to make use of that, then dont get the ritz card. To me marriott gold status is worth a TON because breakfast in a full service marriott can range from $25-$50/person. Lounge access can easily be worth hundreds on a multi-night stay. If you don't stay with marriott/ritz then the card is really useless.
PRG is a great card, especially with the new airline credit, but I won't be keeping it, especially after the british airways fiasco. I'd rather keep my prestige and the ritz card. If you were willing to shell out $395 for the ritz card, I would HIGHLY suggest the prestige card. It's fantastic, the $250 credit can be used for a straight up airfare purchase, and you get global entry credit ($100) and a 50,000 point signup bonus (worth at minimum $800). That's $1150 right there, for $450. You also get 4th night free on ANY paid hotel stay, elite status with 3 different rental car companies, no ftf, transfer partners in all 3 major airline alliances. No brainer.

Sorry to derail this thread - but how is the $100 credit given? I recently stayed at the Ritz Carlton Bachelor's Gulch, and didn't get this (at least as far as I can tell). Not sure I want to poke the bear, because I was expecting a $50/night parking fee that didn't appear (50x5 = $250 I was expecting to pay that I didn't) - but maybe that was because of Gold status?
Do I have to request this?

Z34 booking code, or if you book over the phone request it. I recommend booking on the phone for stuff like this, you sometimes get a better deal.
OP, I would also keep in mind that the PRG is primarily based to those that purchase airfare frequently. Since you said that you only plan on flying once more this year it might not be the best choice for you. Since you won't be using the 3x points on airfare, then you would only be using the 2x points on supermarkets (I'm assuming you would put dining spend on your CSP). If that'st the case I think you should look into the AMEX Everyday card. Earns 2x points on supermarkets and 1x point everywhere else. IF you make 20 purchases in a month then you get a 20% bonus on your points.
The signup bonus is a weak 10k points, but it might be better for you in the long run, plus has no annual fee! Just my 2 cents!
