Hello everyone!
I'm completely new to the credit card business and seeing as how helpful the forum has been to me thus far in my search for information (3 days) I thought it would be better for me to post my situation here.
I spent the majority of my life abroad, due to my parents jobs, but will be returning to the usa for college next month. However, because of this, I saw myself flying back and forth between Asia and the US quite often and I was hoping to be able to get a card that I coupd use for travel. Not knowing anything about credit history, score, etc. At the time, I figured that the Chase Sapphire Preferred card looked like a pretty sick deal. So, I figured I'd just apply for it. I was obviously rejected for a lack of credit history (of which I have none). After doing a little bit more research, I found out that my Experian credit score was 797 (as of 7/30). I also read somewhere on the forums that it was possible to be approved of a chase freedom card with no history. I have since attempted the reconsideratin line twice to no avail. I have a bofa card from my mom with a pretty high limit on it, but I was told that that was completely irrelevant. Ive made about 15k usd this summer working at an internship while tutoring part time. While most of the money will stay in the states, I was thinking of putting about 7000 usd in a US bank account when I get to the states. I was hoping to just get the minimal 500 CL on the freeedom account so I can build into a CSP in the future (while continuing to use my moms card for more costly expenses). My ultimate goal is to access the csp for its travel benefits, but right now I'm really just aiming for the freedom. I've bwen told on each occassion with the reconsideration line that my credit history is the reason why my application is denied. I'm not quite sure what to do at this point. I guess I could keeptrying the reconsideration line in hopes of an approval, but in the case that it fails, would I be better off going for a bank of america card in search for a higher credit limit and turn back to chase in a few months?? Thanks! Also, would it help my chances to apply for the card after signing up for a chase checking account with about 6/7000 dollars in it? Thanks for all the help, and sorry if my questions have alteady been asked elsewhere on the forum.
