Help on What card to apply for

My boyfriend tried applying for the citi visa but was denied due to not having any revolving credit accounts. He has nothing on his credit except for a collection account from boa checking account. Which card may be easier to get for him. Besides capital one since they are not excepting applications from are state at the moment. He is trying to start his credit. Thank you any help would be nice

I would also suggest if he has nothing else on his credit report, then a store or retail card will help. I never had one and it said that I do not have enough revolving credit. I apped online for a JCPenneys card and was instantly approved for a $200 card. Well low and behold it jumped my score around 20 pts and as far as I can tell that is the only change. Just make sure that it DOES NOT have a visa or mastercard logo on it for it to be a retial card. Bestbuy, JCPenneys, and a few others are good retail cards.

yes, and no Discover co branding either, should be a pure retail or gas card.

Re: Help on What card to apply for

He might want to start off by applying for a secured credit card through his bank or a CC through a credit union.

I thought bestbuy was HHBC?

Hi hope

There is a bestbuy store card and a best buy credit card backed by HSBC.

Both the Best Buy store card and the Best Buy Reward Zone Master Card (whew!) are issued by HSBC.
