Helpful Threads has all of the backdoor numbers posted. You can try calling and seeing if there's something you can answer for them. I usually wait out pending applications, but that's a personal decision.
Well it's better than an instant denial. But sorry op the discover pre approval is much different than what it used to be. Anybody gets selected for the it card. Anyways good luck maybe they just want to verify something.

Yup, it's a bait and switch technique... Discover has a secured version, the lady mentioned when I spoke to her that you can be selected with around a 620 as long as you have no baddies on your account. I'd call them tomorrow, as long as you took a screen cap with your reference number you can check online to see if it has been updated but a rep is your best bet.

How is it fraudulent? It's just like any other invitation to apply whether it is by mail or from another CC company's "prequal" site.
I could see that score with a thin file/no credit user... Surprised they didn't offer it to me, esp since their internal score was so high
I applied on friday night and got the same 5-7 days message. I tried to check the status of my application yesterday and I got a similar message that said to try again later. I tired to check the status again today, and I finally got a decision, I was approved. So maybe they just need time to review your application.

I wouldn't say fraudulent, and in this case I guess bait and switch might be a tad over drastic, no matter what you enter for personal info it will show the discover it card, or if you select student the discover it student. It doesn't state PRE approved or PRE qualified, not even if you have no current offers, though no PRE approval sites are guaranteed, it's kinda bad cease people who are new to this will think "OMG, I'm PRE approved"
Regardless of bait and switch or not, I really do wish that Discover would change their prequalify site. I do understand that they get more people to apply that way, but - sigh - it is just so disingenuous. Especially when you can put in fake info and get a message. Just my opinion. If I put in my info, please USE it.
