Help with Amex 3x CLI

So today I asked for the 3x CLI on my Hilton Honors card that I got back 3-13 app spree.  Account had 0 balance, ran about 2k through account since I got it.  I have a 2k limit.

I was past the 61 days.  I did it online and immediately got 7-10 day message.

Instantly I got an email say application status updated.

This was the body of the message;

We regret to inform you that your request has been declined.

Reason(s) for Our Decision

Your American Express account(s) indicates previous delinquencies.

I also got a green card back in Jan 2013.

I did burn Amex way back in 1994/95 time frame.  So I am guessing no CLI ever for me ?  But then why did they approve me for two new accounts this year ?

I guess I will just use the AMEX at Costco for gas and the upgraded status at Hilton.

Any other thoughts from the Forum ?  Should I really call and ask about it ?

I wouldn't call because it looks like the computer made a pretty definitive decision. You are able to try again in 90 days according to what is listed in the 3x guide - so I would just let it go until then. Who knows, you may have a chance someday!

Were you ever late on the Green Card?  If not, I think I would call them.  The other was 20 years ago so I wouldn't think that would even factor.

I have only had the Green card since Jan 2013, never late, always PIF prior to statement.

I am sure it is just the past bad debt.

I will just wait and see.

As you can see I do not need Amex, only wanted them for the backdating, which I achieved.
