I would ask if they would take payment arrangements for the settlement amount and send me something in writing to that effect, and assurance it will not report.

Not trying to irritate you, but you really, really, really, should try to set up pymt plans  b 4 it goes to a CA. It is the best situation. Once it goes to a CA it can get really nasty. Also if you can stop it in its tracks and get the pymt plan you  can get it taken care of b 4 anyone tries to add interest to it.
