So i need some help like stat please. Please read then answer. So I might need to do a BT for my cap1 card it has a balance currently at 2K. It might take me a little while to pay it so thats why i am thinking about opening a Discover Card for the 0% interest and then BT. I dont care about the BT fee. I am also going to be closing my store cards soon here because i no longer need them, so i was wondering do i pay and need to wait for it post a 0 balance or can i pay it then wait for the payment to post to account then close before the reporting to the CRB? Ugh im panicking because i dont want another inq. however in like May all my reports will only have 1 - 2 inqs. so i guess it wouldnt hurt. My stats arent the best right now, however i did get a pre-approval for discover so they might be high enough? Prefer not to say right now just please answer my questions.
1. How good is Discover Pre-approval? I got one in the mail today.
2. Should i go for it for the BT?
3. How do i close cards, do i need to wait for a 0 Balance to report? Or once its paid i can close it?
4.How good is Discover Customer Service?
5. Can i request SP increases and how often? Will they tell me if its SP?
6. Also this wont scare Chase will it? I cant do it BT on that card because i am currently utilizing the 0% on a mattress already, so thats why for that one.

1. I wouldn't count in their pre-approvals
2. If you need the BT and don't have an issue with a new tl
3. No, you do not have to wait for the 0 bal to report but you should make sure pending or recurring charges are addressed
4. Pretty good, US based CSR s
5. Yes, you may but ymmv if you are successful. They allow requests every 90 days once the promo period had ended.
6. Not enough information to advise on Chase
As for info for chase i have an aaoa close to 2 yrs. Util is about 70% so its a little high. Im utilizing Chase 0% so its a little high from that and my cap1 card which would be the BT. If i am approved it will obviously lower my util. I opened Chase in June 2014. Recent Inqs. 1 within 1 yr. Which was Chase. Otherwise no new accounts besides chase. Does that help a little? Also for the employment status should i put part time job, full time student, or other? Because those are my 2 categories except my income is 40k so im confused on what to put.
I know I get preapprovals for the It card all the time. They actually have no balance transfer fee attached to them. I'm not sure if that is across the board for all of their approvals, but it is something that may help you.
If you need to make a BT, then the possible denial and inq are better spent to try to get the card and bt than to not do anything and pay interest.
If you are currently using at least 2 cards close to limit I would not close the store cards right now but cut them up if you don't want to use them and keep them open until either you pay off your other cards most of the way or they close out on their own.
Discover CSR tend to be very good, quick and here in USA... you can ask every 90 days for a sp cli and they can tell you if it's not available and if a hp will be needed and you can cancel request at that point if you want.
However would i scare chase away? I posted some information in my 3rd post. Because i would love to keep my freedom card and thought about the Slate except i wouldnt have any use for the Slate after its paid.

chase doesn't get scared with apps usually
they also tend to love giving 2nd and 3rd cards to people once they have established themselves with them.
chase allows moving credit lines between cards so once you are done with the bt of the slate you can move all but $500 of the cl to another chase card and than close the slate card.
