Hi there,
I'm new here and I would really appreciate a little advice. I'm 22 years old and I currently make 35k/y alone, my SO makes around 50k/y. I purchased a house last year, and have accumulated a few debts since then. I currently have about 15k worth of debt that I'd ideally like to find one card to transfer these debts on to and relieve alot of financial stress from myself.
My credit score has taken a hit recently and is round 600, but my grandmother has agreed to help me secure this credit card. I'm not sure if she would be allowed to "cosign" or if she would just have to get it in her name and put me as an authorized user. She is retired, but she does have a household income (I dont know what it is) from SS and my grandfather gets benefits from the VA.
I would love some suggestions on which cards I should try for. Preferably they would have 0% interest for a certain amount of time atleast, and any rewards would be wonderful. This will solely be used to put these debts on and make monthly payments on.
Let me know if you need any more info!
Thanks everyone.
This is a tough one to answer without more information.
- What is your utl?
- What does your overall credit report lok like?
- What is the highest limit card you have?
There is not a one specific card that is going to approve you for that amount. They look at your report, score included, and make a decision. In regards to your grandmother, I am not sure if or how that would help in this situation, as we don't know what her profile looks like and the fact that her income is limited if she is only getting ss.
IMO, with a score in the very low 600's, you might have a hard time getting approved for a card with a $15k or higher limit. I could be wrong, but that is what I think. I'll let others on here chime in and tell you what they think.
My credit score prior to buying the house was 725-750, my total limits are around 35k and I'm using around 12k of that (3k is student loans that I'm paying off). My highest limit is 5k and I have others that are 4k + lower.
I understand that my score is low and I'd never get approved, that's why my grandmother is agreeing to help me. She has excellent credit, and almost no debt.
NASA FCU
Apply for the Visa Plat Rewards.... You can do JOINT or Individual (do it over phone) they will take into account the balances you want to transfer

Wow! Your score went down 125-150 points after buying the house and getting cc utilization up to ~34%? That's a big drop
