High limit balance transfer card?

Hello. I need a high limit balance transfer card. Who gives the highest limit? Unfortunately, I have a 10k balance on an Amex card I need to move to a 0% card so I can work on paying it off.

credit score -730. I have 2 navy federal credits (one at 25k, another at like $8). $0 balance.  I was thinking I should open a third navy card unless someone has a better option?

Only other card I have is discover it and the Amex with the balance.

i have a really long and positive credit history.  Nothing negative but the Amex debt. Thanks!

Re: High limit balance transfer card?

This question gets asked a lot and the answer is always the same - it just depends on your profile more than the lender. Sure, some lenders such as Navy *can* be a bit more lenient with SLs, but it's not guaranteed you'll get a high enough one, or if you'll even be approved.

That said, Navy probably is your best bet in the case. Citi has a 21 month 0% offer for BTs/purchases on one of their cards (I forgot which one), but they're not known for generous SLs.

ETA: If you've already got somewhat high utilization, it'll be hard to get an approval at all, let alone one with a high SL.

Re: High limit balance transfer card?

I would try for a NFCU Platinum or maybe the Citi Diamond Preferred. Now then, since you have NFCU cards already with decent limits if you open a Platinum card if you don't get the SL you want message them and ask for a realocation for BT pruposes from your other cards and see what they say. That's probably going to be your best bet.

Re: High limit balance transfer card?

Might take two cards.  Citi isn't really known to be generous with their long BT card offers or even reward cards out the gate.  As mentioned it is profile dependent as no two are the same.  Most lenders offer 0% for 12 through whatever length.  Also a PL might be an option as well although won't be 0% it certainly would be better than what you are going to pay in interest.  Pick your poison and best of luck on whatever you choose.

IMHO the best balance transfer cards are credit union, low interest, non-rewards, no-balance-transfer-fee platinum cards.
