I picked up the CSP in Nov. 2015. Enjoyed it immensely. However in August my husband picked up the CSR and added me as an AU. We use it in place of where we were previously using the CSP (mostly eating out, occasional shopping through the UR portal).
I transferred all my UR points to the CSR point bank and was initially going to product change my CSP into the Freedom.
However now I'm not sure if I should just close the account or hang onto the CSP (the rep I spoke with said they'd waive the $95 fee as a retention offer)?
I don't know how much I would use the Freedom. This past year hubs and I put heavy spend on the Discover for the matching Cash Back (which we will receive on Christmas!). Once the matching is over we'll stick to the Discover for the 5% categories (if we don't open a new Discover for him to get a new year of matching Cash Back). I have my Quiksilver WEMC that gives me a straight 1.5% back (hubs has his too). We use the Amex for groceries and gas.
So what would you do? PC to the Freedom anyway? (To URs to combine with the CSR, or cashback?) Keep the CSP? Close up my Chase altogether?
Trying to streamline my wallet and it's a tough one.
Well, you could always just SD it if they will waive the AF as a retention offer. Or, you could app for another Chase card and roll the CSP CL over to it. I wouldn't just close the accounts and have it be over with.
PC to Freedom Unlimited.
PC to the regular Freedom card, because those categories earn 5UR points, a different value than the Discover 5%. They often are not the same quarters, so you can benefit by having both.
Since you are AU on the CSR, the earning of UR on those categories is better, and you have a $75 AF for the CSR.
Alternatively PC to the Freedom Unlimited, but I like my Freedom Regular.
Just don't close the CSP. PC to something to keep the account rolling.
Did they offer to waive the $95 or provide a statement credit for $95. If they offered the statement credit accept that, and call back when it posts, and PC to the Freedom, you will be have made $95 off the deal and kept your history.
Do you collect points or cash back? If cashback I would turn to a Freedom, the Unlimited is the same as your Cap One card. If for points I would totoally turn it to Freedom for the 5%. The categories do overlap with Discover sometimes though.
I am getting married in June and we both have the CSP ( I also have the Freedom and Unlimited its a great UR earnin g trio) I am gonna roll my limits from the CSP to the Unlimited and make it our everyday card and become an AU on his card. I want to CSR byt we have the Amex Platinum I can't stomach 2 $450 fees.
