Paid off just about all of my cards today and was bored so I looked at how fast I was getting credit or payments posted. Was curious about other cards. All my payments were made Saturday before lender's daily cutoff time, and I'm checking status at 12:30 am on Sunday morning. I used an established credit union account and pulled from the lender. I'll update the ones that haven't processed, when they do.
- Amex (Gold, Delta Gold, Delta Plat)- immediate credit, balance cleared on 2nd day
- NFCU - nothing, not open on weekends so payment can't be submitted until Monday
- cap1 (QS, QS1, Walmart) - payment cleared and available
- Discover - payment cleared and available in 2nd day
- PayPal - credited, payment cleared on 2nd day
- Sync Amazon - payment cleared on 2nd day, not credited yet
- Mission Lane - payment cleared and available
- Kohl's - credited, payment cleared on 2nd day
- Nordy store card - credited, payment cleared on 2nd day
- Target store card - payment cleared and available
- Comenity store cards (Wayfair, Overstock, Ikea) - all credited, payment cleared on 2nd day
- Comenity PlayStation - credited, payment cleared on 2nd day
How long does it take your payments to credit and/or clear? How did you pay, push, pull, auto, over the phone? Store card vs the open loop version? Just curious.
Great post
For AmX and Citi--when PIF payments are pending, my CL restores immediately to full CL available. (Push) This surprised me. I think this changed over the years--may be due to they trust my billpay. IDK.
Disco takes 1 day (push). However, if I pay on their website (pull), CL is immediately restored to amount of payment.
Now granted, I never pay on a weekend; so I dont know if this would change anything.
And KUDOS to you for paying off everything.

With Amex, it doesn't matter how much I pay, I'll get immediate credit. Usually takes a day or two for the balance to zero out.
For disco, I don't think I've ever gotten an immediate credit. I've only ever paid through the app though. Next time, I'll try through the actual website.
For Saturday payments, I was really curious about if there would be any delays. I learned today that I can't schedule an NFCU payment on a weekend. Never had to before because I normally pay on a Thursday.
Thanks, it's been a long time coming.
Congrats again @Brian_Earl_Spilner
I generally use the credit cards website to pull the payment from the bank. Currently, bill pay occurs on Sunday morning and most credit cards have updated by Monday, but a few don't update until Tuesday.
I have noticed that Discover and Citi both restore available credit by the amount of the payment immediately.
PenFed and NFCU seem to take forever.

Yea NFCU won't allow you to schedule payments on the weekend unless you're pushing a payment from your accounts with them. Same with doing an external transfer.
@tcbofade it's starting to bother me that I'm not getting instant credit for discover. Wonder if that has to do with the fact the card was secured at one point.

First off, awesome work paying everything off. I'm not there yet but I'm getting a lot closer and I look forward to being in your position!
For my Discos, I do not see credit immediately cleared upon payment whether paying via site or app. I have not tried a push from my bank. Balance and CL update anywhere from 1-3 days later.
Amex - instant restoration of credit upon payment, balance updates in about a day like yours
Target card - payment updates the next calendar day
Lowes - whenever it feels like updating balance/credit limit, although I'm always credited with making a payment on the date I pay. Standard randomness from Synch.
CapOne - updates balance and CL in 1-2 days for payments
Comenity store cards - updates CL instantly, balance in 1-2 days
Hone Depot (Citi) - balance updates next day, sometimes two days if I pay on a Saturday, CL updates along with balance
Kohls - CL updates within a day, balance a day or two later
Firestone (CFNA) - CL and balance update within 2 days or so
My Discover usually takes a day to update my available credit and balance. I always pay in app and pull from my bank.
My Cap 1 updates my available credit and balance immediately. Always pay in app and pull from my bank.
My bank though... wow. It takes them 3 sometimes 4 days to actually debit the payments from my account.

EDIT: Cap 1 updates available credit NOT balance.
OK, I was mistaken.
Just made a payment on DW's Citi Simplicity card. The balance updated immediately, but the available credit has NOT.
No Discover payments on my list this week, but I'll look more closely next month...
