Hi Gang,
I just wanted to report my own personal experiences with Amex since many new Amex customers are unsure of how to treat their account. Please understand that these are my own experiences and I'm not advising anyone to handle their Amex card the same way.
Now, I have 2 cards with them. I have the green card (personal) and I have the plum card (business). I have to tell you that since I have had these cards (2008), I completely max them out to the last penny every single month. Now, the one problem I did incur is that Amex imposed limits on both of these so called "no pre set spending limit" cards. This was when the economy was at its worst. I'm going to ask them to life these limits soon. Other than that, I never had any problems with Amex. In fact, I often exceed the limits imposed and reasonable charges still get approved. I never pay my bill on the due date. I always pay the day before the start of my next billing cycle.
Some may think this is risky but this is how I handle my Amex cards. I'm not worried about a FR. The above is not to brag in any way but to prove that Amex doesn't FR everyone.
My opinion: I think Amex is a great choice for personal or business cards.

I dont have one of their charge cards but I have one of their credit cards. I usually PIF every month. They have been good about giving rate reductions and I currently have a 12 month promo of 0% on new purchases. This is a five year old account.
So from my experience I can also recommend their credit cards.
