@JaysonT wrote:Interesting question. When I started getting cards a little over two years ago, I only had one bank debit card. I was very much against getting cards because I felt it would be a temptation to overspend. My spouse kept commenting about all the points and miles opportunities out there and kept pushing.
Now I have:

Honestly, I think I am addicted to credit cards. I keep essentially no balance on any of them but rotate through using them to keep them "fresh".
Ok NOW I don't feel so bad. I was in the same boat as you... 2.5 years ago, no CC, and now I have 13 CCs + 1 Biz card and I have to work to rotate the plastic just to keep them from possibly being closed. In the last 3 months I've opened 4 new accounts just because there was an incredible free travel offer or 0% financing to take advantage of that I just couldn't pass up. I'm truly gonna stop where I am right now as I've gotta use up these "offers" or they'll just be a waste otherwise. But the funny thing is I used to be afraid I wouldn't get approved for something and now I'm afraid I will get approved and I'll have another account to deal with.
Wow some of you have a deck of cards.
I have six. Since I plan to buy a house in the next 12-18 months, I probably won't apply for anymore until I get a mortgage. I'd like to replace my rebuilder cards with some "grown up" cards.
Orchard $700
Hooters $500
Cap One $750
Macy's $1000
Victoria's Secret $680
Walmart $700
I have four and that's plenty for me. (Closed Orchard, JCPenney, Walmart, & removed as AU on DH's BofA).
I'm a rebuilder - CH 13 Discharged 18 months ago.
1 Macy's $3,100 (D'oh!, as if anyone cares - my CL could be $31) 13 months old
1 Dillard's $1,450 (13 months old)
1 Juni $1,700 (9 months old)
1 AFCU $10,000 (1 month old) SWEET! My first grown up girl card since rebuilding. Great interest rate, too (even though I'm a PIFer). Party time!

15 cc's and 2 store cards. I played the balance transfer game (and played it pretty well) right after I got out of college and opened one card after another when the 0% ran out. Now all those cards except 2 are just sitting in a drawer.
Unbelievable how many cards some of you have. I would shoot myself if I had more than 5-6 total cards.
