I recently asked New York and Co for a replacement card as I accidently threw mine away. They sent me a message back saying they closed the account, opened a new one and are sending me a card. How will thie affect my credit? This was my oldest account, 2008-2009 range. This is a big deal as Im working on a mortage. My next oldest acoount was in the 2013 range.
Is there anything I can do if this will drastically hurt me?
The account should still stay on your credit file for 10 years. Were you using this card to pad UTIL? Are you SURE they closed the account and didn't just change the card number?
I had not used it for quite some time, 2+ years.

And if they report a new one, they should report the same opening date, but not sure guess it depends on the lender. I remember Sam's closed my card and opened a new one when I reported my card lost. (They didn't backdate to first open date, if I remember correctly.)
