I had a credit hit my Cap 1; and then charged some items. Went to pay the balance today and I'm $15 over the limit.
The balance was $0 at last statement and will be again on this one, but will the over the limit hit my CR?
Will this stop me from getting the CLI in the Steps program?
I can't swear on here but I've been trying so. effing. hard to maintain a util <9% AND never go over the limit.
The over limit won't be seen negatively on the credit report as opposed to temporarly utilization
Capital one however may raise APR(an excuse to do so) and or consider it negative in some other fashion
But I wouldn't worry about it too much

Are saying you paid $15.00 more than total balance which leaves you a credit of $15.00? If so, you have nothing to worry about.
So, I should not expect the auto-CLI as indicated by the Steps program letter I received from them since I did go over the $500.
Right?
Erg. I'm so mad, I could kick myself.
No. I'm saying I had a credit of $102 hit my card, reducing my balance to $370 or so, I charged some items. I'm trying to use my cards each month instead of cash, pay them off in full, save for about $15 on one card to help with util.
In charging those few items, I went to $515 on my account transactions page of Cap 1. Just found it today when I went to pay the bill (in full).
My limit is $500.
Did you get charged the over limit fee?
No. When reviewing my transaction history, there is no line item stating "Fee" or similar.
Just my balance says $515.
Charging over the limit may not be as grave as paying late. They approved it. You may be safe with the credit step program if they specifically outlined being overlimit can caused a cancellation of the step program. . Give them all call.

Yes, it may hurt your credit steps. This is a typical problem with low limits and you gotta be careful with this. Remember that even though it may not hurt your CR for any FICO scoring reason, a manual review (if ever) will show that you once went over your credit limit. It shows as high balance on your CR.
and say what? I'm a dork, trying really hard to manage my credit appropriately, am paying the balance so there won't be any balance for next statement?
I have never had to grovel (always paid my bills on time in full)...
