How Soon Do You Use a Card

My wife just told me that she has no idea where her Cash Reward card is. She activated it, but hasn't used it since she got it mid-May. 😑

Got me wondering, how soon after getting a new card do you use it? Don't include cards with SUBs because you're expected to use it due to the time limits. Personally, I get around to it in about a week. Usually something like gas and then I pay it off to get an idea of posting times.

I always give it a couple of days and then start with small charges..... Probably just being paranoid but I wouldn't want to just chunk a large purchase on it either.......

I advise you find your wife's card and put a pack Of gum on it or something... Gotta keep these puppies active lol

Re: How Soon Do You Use a Card

I try and use a new card within a few days of activation. Normal type charge of what I would typically expect to put on the card.

Usually the day I get it and for a local in store purchase. Then move to online activity.

I use it as soon as I activate the card after receiving it in the mail.  I don't get new credit cards very often, though.

Since my mail goes to another address. I've opened the envelope on the way back and use that sucker to make sure it works ASAP.

Agree with everyone else here thus far..  use it as soon as you can and show that lender why they accepted you.  If you received a SUB offer then for darn sure, start putting everything including the kitchen sink and your neighbors bills on it why not!  I believe the longest I waited to actually use a new card, due to completing another cards SUB was 2 weeks.
