How To Discover CLI

I got the Discover More card a couple weeks ago but with only a $1k CL. I called the back door number to see about an increase but she transferred me to a CSR who game me the 6 months speech. Is it just too long after the initial app to get a CL recon or what? I know people have gotten CLIs after being approved...am I too late?

Re: How To Discover CLI

If I were you I'd wait the six months.  Don't wanna rock the boat.  I also have a Discover More and really would like an increase, but I've only had mine 2 months, so I'm gonna wait it out to see if I get an auto CLI and if I don't at six months, I'm gonna request one.

Slowly building....

+1 I'm definitely waiting the 6 months.

Re: How To Discover CLI

It's been my experience that after 6 months, Discover will issue most an automatic CLI.

Re: How To Discover CLI

I have had my Discover More for a year and a half now with an initial credit limit of $3000 and I have never received an automatic increase and I haven't asked for one either.Could be because I very rarely pass putting anything over a grand on it on any given month?

I can't say for certain, but I've noticed that if you charge and never go over 10%, Discover seems to give a CLI hoping you will keep charging 10% of a higher CL.  At least, that's what happened in my case.

For the first 6 months, I always stopped using the card at around 10% of CL.

Might keep this in mind.

Re: How To Discover CLI

Interesting... I definitely go over 10% per month on average. I'm okay with this limit though, I just find it funny because I always see threads/posts about an increase after 6 months.

Re: How To Discover CLI

I hit the 6th month mark on 3/07/12 and have had 5 statements cut, the 6th will cut on the 25th of this month.  Maybe I will get a auto CLI then, I'm stuck with 1k also, I've ran close to 600-700 a month on this card and PIF.

I hope I get a CLI, otherwise I might sockdraw it and just use my amex lol.

Re: How To Discover CLI

I've had mine for 7 months and was hoping for an auto CLI.  I utilize about 80% then pay it off every month.  I called about a CLI since I hadn't heard from them and they told me my account was setup on automatic monitoring.  I declined to have him proceed with a customer requested CLI because I'm trying to keep my inquiries down and score up for a mortgage application in a couple of months.  He did inform me they would do a hard pull.  I'll wait.  Patience is a virtue.
