Now that I have the US Airways card I want the AAAdvantage card from Citi so the points can be combined later on.  I have like 7 inqs on EQ now

are they 100% eq pull if that were the case i would get it but i am afraid they would pull ex then i would be sad lol. EQ only has 3 HP and haven't had an HP since sept of 2013. Its my highest score by far but am afraid they would pull ex that has double digit HP :-(

EQ wouldn't be good for me either as my EQ score is still yucky.

You say you INQ's are on EQ, they usually pull EX anyway. I hear they are INQ sensitive, but I think they don't really care. If they want to give you the card, they will. I was approved for my last 2 Citi cards with 8 and 9 INQ's on EX.

+1 Just MO but I think too many inquires is an excuse to deny.  I've been approved by Citi before including CLIs with more than 8 Inqs.  Like EP wrote if Citi wants to give you the card, they will.

Citi is notoriously ANNOYING with their INQ expectations. With anything more than 5-6, be prepared to get declined for having too many INQS. Funny thing is that they also ADD their INQ to it too. I remember calling them when I have 10 INQ and I was told that I have too many. I told the lady that 3 of those INQ were a result of me asking for a CLI for the past 6 months. She then proceeded to tell me that CITI won't count "CITI INQS" then I asked why she told me I had 10 INQ instead of 7 lol. ALSO, YMMV, so you can try if you want.

Absolutely that. I definately had more than 10 inqs  and yet got instantly approved for 2 different citi cards (only waited a few days inbetween the applications). The second card was only approved with a 2000 dollar limit. But still it was an instant approval so I felt like it wasn't borderline yet. This brought my citi card count to three. Then some months later I applied for the Citi Prestige card and got that as well this time with a 9000 limit. And inbetween the Citi applications I got 5 other cards and asked for a CLI elsewhere.

Very much YMMV. In my case they didn't care about the inqs at all.

Re: How bad is Citi about number of inquiries?

Funny topic! Apped for the DC back in Sept and was approved with an insultingly low CL. Tried to recon but was denied a CLI due to too many inqs.

Now in Nov I apped for the TYP and was approved with a CL a little higher than on the DC. Dont need a higher CL on this as I only want it for the SUB. However, asked for CLI on the DC again and was denied a CLI due to too many inqs again.

Seems like they have no problem giving you another card but CLI on an existing account is a big issue...
