I just received my denial letter for the Orbitz Reward Visa.
Reason for denial was:
My credit history is still considered short at 8 years but I have about 13 open accounts and have a couple closed. A majority of those being comenity accounts so I'm shocked by the denial. I am taking advantage of promotions on my comenity accounts and that is why my balances are so high. Bought a new computer on my TigerDirect account and it is using about 50% of the balance. Took advantage of a BT on my Barclaycard for 3.99%.
I am shocked about the unable to verify credit history because I have accounts with the bank and have opened credit with Comenity Capital Bank and Comenity Bank recently. I have 1 paid collection on my report and 1 in dispute that is several years old. Haven't missed a payment on anything in several years. It could not generate a score but I have an inquiry.
I am wanting to recon. Should I write in or is there a # to call. Usually I just suck up the tears and move on but the denial reason this time around is a little farfetched.
Denial reasons can sometimes look like someone shooting darts blindfolded, it's frustrating. Do you have any negatives or freezes on your reports? Anything in dispute? How many EQ inquiries? Orbitz and Virgin America seem to have tougher underwriting standards than other Comenity cards.

+1 you basically can't recon comenity!
Yes. I currently have a dispute on all credit reports.I'm thinking its pretty easy for me to get Comenity Bank cards but when it comes to Comenity Capital I have a little more trouble. Thanks for all the help you guys. I couldn't do this credit thing without you

Glad to see a recent thread and a definitive answer! My friend tried applying for the Orbitz and got denied for Past/Present Deliquent Accounts (he does have a $140 medical collection on his EQ from '09), but also Excessive Credit Obligations (uhh...he has a $300 Kohl's charge with no balance and a lease. that's it!)
I'll have to let him know there's no recon opportunities, as well as help him clean up that medical collection with a possible PFD
Called for recon and was told that the collection I had on my report and my dispute still in progress they couldn''t approve me oh well, I need to hop on back into the garden anyway. My other comenity accounts give me 1k increases every month so I'll use that to fiend off temptation.

Sorry about the denial. At least they took a serious look at your profile it sounds like - out of the ordinary for Comenity.
Yes. The person I spoke with was very nice. Went over what they look for in an application and thanked me for having several accounts with the bank. Having a relationship with the bank will help me with approval later just have to make sure nothing is currently in dispute. Thanks everyone again for the help.
I know right! I asked and they said they have worked as a CSR for 25 years! Don't know why they are working there!
