Yikes.. HP for a CLI that can be denied. Thanks for the ifi though. I'm curious.. Is the EO or UW route a HP as well? Or just the secure message route?
It is always a HP with Chase unless it is an auto CLI. Depending on the cards you have, it might be more efficient to app for the CSP. Get the bonus. Move the CL to your Freedom. Then close the CSP. I believe Chase gives higher limits for the CSP than other cards.
But doing so might hurt your credit score and internal scoring with Chase. It also might cost you a double HP if Chase double pulls for opening the new CC.
Not sure how Chase figures their limits, but when I received my CSP at 5k(later auto-CLI'd to $6.5) it was right in line with most of my CLs. Later when I tried for the Freedom I was a little disappointed to only get $8k(later auto-CLI'd to 18k), but that was in line with other CLs I was receiving at the time. Both auto CLIs were SPs and happened less than a year after I received the cards. Just my .02
