How could I get the Venture X In less than two years?

Hey Forum, I really would love to have the Venture X Card before I join the military because if I get it before I join, they will waive the AF, but not the other way around. Obviously I plan to get all the Amex cards and other goodies after, but this one really is a time-limited card for me.

Here's the info on that: https://www.capitalone.com/military/

Hopefully I have a chance. All cards and dates are in my sig. I did just pay all of my CCs off after holding an extremely high util for a while, not happening again. Every once in a while I check my pre-approval for venture x just to see what their reasons are and right now this is what they say:

"

Here are the reasons why we couldn't match you with an offer:

Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies below, insufficient experience with high lines of credit or credit amounts
Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies below, there is insufficient revolving credit history

Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies below, there is insufficient credit card history

Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies below, insufficient revolving account experience"

So obviously, most of these come down to time, except for the high lines of credit, which I have none of my own right now.

Is there really no better option to get to my goal in time rather than just waiting and seeing? Would opening an Amex card with NPSL fake them out to seem like I can be trusted with a "high limit"? Any other advice on this card/topic?

Thanks in advance.

you need a high limit card, ask for CLIs on all of your cards, today.

add a new card with a $5k+ limit, having $1k cards isn't going to be enough think navy fed or synchrony or anything perhaps with a tool that will show you what your limit is going to be, Apple Card? WF One Key card

Macy's is an easy card to get the limit up quickly on. Went from $300 to 25k in like 1.5 years. They gave me CLIs almost every month when I requested them.

Re: How could I get the Venture X In less than two years?

I just made an account with Navy Fed today, I'm only preapproved for their 200$ secured card rn lol. I'll wait a week and retry.

I definitely don't want to get a store card of any type. I don't have any Apple and would like to stay away from WF.

I really don't know if having a high-limit card is really a 'requirement' even though the feedback they gave mentions that. My s/o has two cards that are 2k each and she is pre-approved for the VX with a smaller credit history than me.

Even if I managed to get a high-limit card, that would give me a HI and lower my avg account history and I'm not sure that would bring me closer or further from the Venture X. I currently have no Inquiries on my report.

Re: How could I get the Venture X In less than two years?

It sounds like what you need is a real credit card with a fairly high limit. Navy was mentioned. Amex does have real credit cards (not charge cards). Ive gone from $6k to $27k in a year with bce.

There may be a need for higher credit limits but I think, more importantly, you just need a longer credit history.

Re: How could I get the Venture X In less than two years?

I am not really feeling a consensus on this. Honestly, if NFCU would give me a pre-approval for something more than a secured card, I'd most likely open the card.

But they're not, and I still really would love a little more consensus on if it would be worth it to open a card, or just to let everything age.

Re: How could I get the Venture X In less than two years?

To my astonishment, I am now pre-approved for the VX despite no credit limits really changing. I kinda hurt my goal here by requesting my SCRA benefits too early and they approved them, which means now I have to wait for those benefits to expire (so I'm not considered Active Duty) so then I can apply for the VX right before I go AD again and get SCRA again.
