Nothing wrong with trying to get a retention offer, but Amex just upped their game on the PRG - adding a 2x dining category and nixing the FTF. They raised the AF along with that. That was a calculated move. I doubt they will just waive your fee to keep you.

Not true at all. It all comes down to how much business do you give to AMEX. I have had retention offers for my platinum every single year since 2012.

OP, Online chat is useless for retention offers, call customer service and have them route your call to retention manager. All my retention calls ended up at the same location. (Jacksonville, FL)

Do you mind sharing what retention offers you were able to get? $450 on the Platinum is quite a lot for my particular usage.

Probably because this forum isn't the best to get details on how to get offers, promotions and bonuses. I would recommend FlyerTalk for that and this forum of how to keep your scores up.

Well thanks all for the advice!

As a side note, I'm aware of what this forum is for as I've been on it for years. Doesn't mean I can't ask for advice and experience about retnetion offers here.
