Any thoughts about the Citibank takeover of Macy accounts?
I noticed that when I log in to make a payment I am re-directed to the right page but through Citibank?
How will this affect future CLI and upgrades? Citibank pulls CR for CLI?
Will this be opportunity to get on Citibanks pre-approved list for future cards or will there be no benefit?
What is your opinion?

Just to clarify, Citibank has not "taken over Macy's accounts". Macy's accounts have been and continue to be administered through DSNB (Department Stores National Bank), which is a retail arm of Citi. They have made some changes to the web interfaces, but there has always been involvement with Citi.
I think it's a joint venture situation via Department Store Bank. I've always noticed Citibank's name since I opened the card.

Yes - Citi has always been involved. It was website changes taking place.
And also, unfortunately, CLI changes too re/ HP. Same exact company, they just decided to make some changes to the website portal and to CLI.
It's always been separate from Citi (although a retail arm of Citi), so having a Macy's card makes no difference if you go to apply for a Citibank Visa or Mastercard.

Very true. I burned Citibank a decade ago and cannot get any pre-approvals with them for their regular cards, but I had no problem getting the Macy's card. Although at the time when I applied I had no idea it was an arm of Citi. Had I known that, I probably would have been too scared to apply.
Citibank has managed Macy's and Bloomingdale's accounts for some time now. DSNB is Citibank.
I have found that being in with Macy's and having their Am Ex card does open the door for Citibank prescreened apps.
My DW and I have been targeted for Home Depot, Citibank's DP, DC and several other Visa/MC's with them within several months of getting Macy's Am Ex with scores over 700.
I had a Macy's Card way back in 1978, it's listed on my CR as my oldest open account - well that and AmEx. Had not used it in years, I mean a bunch of years and they closed it in 2014 due to lact of usage. Last spring I reapplied and they re-issued as a new account with a $1k SL, a month ago when I saw the account "redirected" to Citi, I askled for a CLI to $5,000 - Granted within maybe 30 minutes.
So....in my case, I have no problem with Citi "taking over" Macy's cards
