Chase reports balance on statement close date. BUT it also reports any time your balance hits 0. Don't use Chase card as AZEO card.

I’m almost hitting 3 months with my Chase FU. I’ve always kept my util under 8.9% but Yet when it reports, it shows a balance of $0.00. I leave a balance of 8.9% or less when my statement cuts, then pay the balance off. I’m trying to understand how Chase is reporting to the Credit bureaus. Looks like Chase reports when I pay my Statement balance.
Any time you PIF Chase, it'll report fairly quick. So, even if you left a residual balance and decide to PIF mid-cycle, it'll report as $0.
Yeah, make Chase non-AZEO. I've been using Discover as AZEO, since "they prefer you carry a balance." "Amex & Chase prefer not carrying a balance." I'm too new to it all to be sure, but I got an autoCLI from Chase at 3.5mo, possibly by paying to zero before statement cut date. Also 2 3xCLIs from Amex. The myFICO wisdom is working for me.
edit... When you make Amex or CapOne AZEO, they report to CBs, your score will/should gain back points lost to Chase reporting zero.

It’s been a while but I remember someone stating I shouldn’t have any issue with AZEO with my chase, maybe I was given the wrong info. Wish I knew this sooner, so either AMEX or Cap1 should be the card that should be reporting a balance.
It's possible to continuously report a positive balance on a Chase card while avoiding interest if you wait until a new charge has posted and avoid paying to zero. It's a bit of a pain to do that, though. You may as well let Chase's policy work for you rather than against you as it can be really handy at times.
Note that Chase will also report whenever you call and ask them to. If all of your cards are at zero and you need some points quickly, it might be worth the effort to make a request.

I've actually been using my CSP as my AZEO card, but I've always let 200 - 300 float on it. Now I know never to let it zero out. Thanks for the tip.
I've seen Chase report zero at least three times in a month, even when my reported balance was already zero to begin with.

I wonder why chase is so eager to report 0 balances. Does anyone know?
