How does FICO know my credit limit?

My NFCU CC is finally reporting -- great rejoicing! However, it reports the balance but not the limit. How does FICO calculate how close I am to my CL if it isn't listed in my reports? I've checked on TC and FICO and both report the bal but not the limit.

Unfortunately, FICO only knows what's reported.

If no CL is reported, FICO will use the High Credit (or High Balance) field in its place, which is supposed to be the highest balance ever on the account.

Does the High Credit/High Balance field have an amount reported?

Re: How does FICO know my credit limit?

This is what it says... since yesterday, the credit limit is now showing correctly as $15K, however under "remarks" it says this:

"Amount in H/C column is credit limit"

Which is 180 degrees from the column beside that which clearly shows the limit as $15K.

Does FICO/FAKO take notes in the "Remarks" column into account, or can I assume I'm safe and the remarks aren't factored?

FICO does look at some remarks, but not that particular one.

I'm guessing the report with that comment is EQ.  I have no idea why that remark is there, but if it makes you feel any better, my EQ report has that remark next to every single one of my revolving accounts, but I've done the math, and FICO is calculating my revolving utilization correctly.

At times when tl first reports to cras, the only thing that reports is high balance. After a month or so, it will update the cl as well. Don't dispair.

That will update correctly to reflect highest balance recorded on tl.

I remember few months back with my Nordstrom card, went to buy from circuit city items totaling to 450 or so. After few days, changed my mind and returned items unopened and got a full credit. The problem is that when they reported this activity, it bought up the high balance even though it was in the middle of my statement

High balance is usually the highest balance on the card, regardless of whether it was a statement balance or intra-cycle.

In any case, the issue appears to be with the remarks "Amount in H/C column is credit limit."  As I said, those remarks are on every single one of my revolving accounts on EQ, but it has not affected my calculated utilization at all.  The remarks are a mystery to me, but as long as they're not hurting anything I'm not worrying about it.
