Re: How does anyone wait two years to app.

I waited 4 years between my first two cards because of ignorance. Then again this was back in the dark ages of the interwebs...not a whole lot of resources like this forum back then.

Rebuilding savings, regenerating income, letting current accounts age, paying down balances. Reading these forums doesn't give me the urge to app. If nothing else I read some of the posts and think "don't be that guy." Credit is not a game, but it takes strategy, discipline and patience to get to where you want to be. I won't let that get derailed by a mindless app spree.

I'm going to guess I went almost 10 years between applying for credit cards. Then I found myFICO after I paid off my CC debts and went to town this year. Now I have a bunch of INQs, but also some very nice cards with nice limits! My goal is to not app until mid-2016.

Re: How does anyone wait two years to app.

Found my new reason to garden.  I really want a new car, one travel card and a mortgage.  Survey says, my low scores are going to need some tending before I can consider any of those three things.

This, is giving me cause to plant my seeds now!

perhaps if a lofty goal is in mind, and knowing what you need to get it, can give pause to app'ing. Trying to help.

While I have no lofty goal per se, I also have no need to keep apping. All of my major spending categories are more than covered. To add more cards would just be frivolous and not really give me much extra in rewards with my spend.

Well, my last app was OCT 2013.  I have cards with high limits, so for know, I am in the business of paying down my limits.  I don't have a need to buy a house, or purchasing a new car.  My true goal is to get into Chase Preferred Banker account.
