I chickened-out and only asked for $18,000. Instantly approved. I'll ask for $25,000 in Oct. No reason to really push too quickly. I don't need the extra credit, I just want to build several large lines so I can close a few others.
IMO don't go beyond 23.5-24.5k on next request, if an aversion to F/R remains.
In any case, Congrats! going from 2-18k is v. nice work and in such a relatively short time period-impressive.
I think they like folks like OP who appear to fall into the sweet spot of their 'spendcentric' model.
Amex has been very good to me too overall. The one F/R they enacted a couple of years ago did not result in AA for me, and was rather painless except for the suspense of waiting a few days for acct to be unlocked.
However, during the midst of the credit crisis, was hit with a few CLD on Clear card...since then, limits have been restored+, even with additional amex products added as well.
