But.. with my normal "growth isn't everything" message, consider if the cards are useful as is. If you are getting decent rewards and are not near the limit, they might be as good as any "growth" card.
i.e. Cards don't need to grow (IMO, a myfico disease!) to be useful.
While some benefits can be useful, it can be just as important to have a workable cl. Mine is stuck at 5k. I opened another before this, opening cl 36200. That wasn't even showing at time of USB app.
I've opened 2 afterwards, opening cls, 24 and 25k. Increased cl already on 2 of 4 via sp. One is now 40, the other 34 and close to being able to ask for another.
Last week I bought a new car and chose bcu. The loan officer and I were having a discussion on how I pay bills. She said I was exceptional. When I have a balance report of 4 or 5k, I pay in full and it shows.
Underwriters should be able to see and determine you can easily handle a higher limit, with scores, dti and all factors figured in. But USB is hot on the printer with balance transfer checks if they see a balance report. Let me ask, would you transfer a 5k balance to a 5k limit card? If they can see how you pay your bills, how much you spend with other lenders, one would think they would want to cater to that person to a certain extent and make some money off processing fees, potential interest if one were to carry a balance short term.
Mine is on the chopping block for this year.
I received a letter from US Bank by mail today congratulaing me and mentioning that "in recogntion to the exceptional way that I handled my account" they bumped up my CL
I wish that it such recognitions would not be a single time achievements and they would do it in future as well.
