cap 1 pulls all three cr's upon app. (ewww). i would wait until my scores increase, otherwise, even if you are approved you are unlikely to get a good cap1 card with decent apr and cl w/ your current scores. i'd say if you want cap1 for whatever reason let your scores be around 650 or better.

Re: How hard is it to receive a Capital One CC?

I was approved for the credit rebuilding card last week.  I went to the website and entered my name and address.  It pulled up all the offers I had been "pre-selected" for.  I got the card with a $500 limit and 12.99% interest (no annual fee).  It's not great but I needed another revolving line of credit.  I've heard Capital One is really good about giving credit limit increases if you stay within your limit and pay on time for 3 months.  I have an HSBC card with a $300 limit that I got when my scores were about where yours are now.  It's a subprime card but I'm using solely for credit building.

Re: How hard is it to receive a Capital One CC?

Since the posted scores I have received a partially secured BOA, CJ card and I was just approved for the HSBC 2% cash back card. Also i have managed to get 3 CA removed from my TU report and 1-2 removed from EQ & EX. I would hope that in the last 3 months my score has gone up some. i am trying not to purchase my reports and scores just yet.

Congrats!  You are indeed on your way!  Smiley Happy

You can pull your own reports and not be penalized.  You have to pay for them and it can get expensive if you pull them everytime something changes (like I did at first - doh!).  However, I think it's a good idea to pull them every so often so you have a good idea of how your efforts are affecting your score.  Sometimes this credit thing can be tricky to say the least.  It's amazing how much time it can consume!

Or subscribe at www.truecredit.com and get daily pulls for $14.95/mo (I think there are some coupons/special offers around as well - e.g. through Walmart - where you can receive discounts to that price)
