How hard is to get a Secured Card from Citi?

I am curious to find out how difficult it is to get a Secured card from Citi? I want to have a card with 10k CL. When I tried to increase my secured card limit from $6k to $7k they pulled a hard on me. They said they would do that every time I ask for CLI even if it is secured. I am thinking it might be to my best interest to open a card with Citi secured card with upfront CL of $10K and just take one hit with one Hard Inq and be done with it. Any suggestions. Not that I want another card now. I just want to have at least one good card with good CL that I can keep it as backup when I travel and for any emergencies. Or I can wait another 12 months and go for a regular card with good CL.

They pull a CR to increase a card financed by your own money?

Yep. They just it did couple of days ago. If we ask for any thing over $5k CL even it if is secured 100% by money they would still pull a hard I guess.

OK, I'm a little confused. Is your current secured card with Citi? If so, what good will it do to open another secured card with them? Or can you throw an extra $3K at them and request a CLI to $10K for the price of one hard inq?

I hear you about having a dependable card to rely on when traveling. We're going through that with DD#2 to find a back-up card for when she goes to Ireland. It's all about redundancy: belt and suspenders!

Hauling, the first secured card I am talking about is from First National Bank of Omaha. Not with Citi. When I asked them to increase my CL from $6k to $7K with full secured collatoral, they pulled a hard on me.

I guess after all I dont need a secured card from Citi. Just now I applied for Citi AA Bronze card from myfico / get a credit card site and I am approved for the card with $5000 CL. I never thought I can get a card from Citi. I am impressed with my self. I guess, I am doing some thing right. From what I understand, Citi is a good company and good card.

I really dont know what CRA they pulled. I have to wait till tomorrow before I can update my profile with CreditSecure/TrueCredit. I'll post once I know where they pulled.

Super congrats concord! That makes at least 3 of us this week that got Citi cards that I can think of.

and a great opening cl too! I got 2k on the Discover More.

I think, I am going to freeze my credit reports and give the key to DW. That way I can not app for any new cards. My BOA 99/500 card should be come unsecure in 120 days. Now that I got Citi prime card , prime BOA Card and **bleep**ty amex plat card this is time to freeze my CR and put any temptation or distraction away for next 6 months. First thing tomorrow, I am going to look into this.
