Call the backdoor number and talk to a underwritter. This is normal statement for a frontline CSR to state this. Good luck! I went from 5K to 10K on my Amazon Store card.

Yes, you were given wrong information. Let us know how it goes!

I am at 5k, should I ask for 7500 or 10k? I want a sure thing, so 7.5k?
Nothing is a sure thing, its always a YMMV thing IMO. But they will counter offer you if you do not qualify. Good luck!

I'd ask for the 10k and let them counter if they are going to counter.

That's insane! How could anyone possibly spend that much at Walmart? It's the store card and not the discover, right?First, one could absolutely spend that much if they wanted to. Second, for me this is purely for utilization purposes. I've used the card exactly three times. Once for a printer, once for groceries, and once for things for my daughter's apartment, which was the most at 974 bucks. Each time I paid it in full. In fact I paid the 974 while the charge was still pending, so for a few days I had a credit of 974 dollars.
LOL walmart is like costco, never knowing how much you actually spend till you check out.
And GE cards are for sure UTI purposes
LOL! That's for sure! We have the Walmart super center and they have some of EVERYTHING in that place! I went to buy things for thanksgiving dinner and that place was so crowded I swore I would never go back. If it can't be purchased online, I won't be getting it! Lolololol! At any rate, people do some major shopping there! I'm going to buy a television for my daughter's apartment soon and it will be charged to my Walmart card and then paid in full. Obviously GE likes that because they keep giving me increases!
LOL! I thought it was just me! Even driving into the parking lot gives me the hives! I got the card in Sept and have had 2 CLI's ( not as high as yours of course) but I have used it 3x . They were selling the iPhone 5 for $127 last month and I couldn't resist buying 3. Guess that makes it 4x
What was everyones initial starting limit? Mine is $800 and plan on asking for a cli in about a month or so once I've used it a few times. What amount should I asked them for?

Mine was $700. I think you might need to wait for 3 or 4 statements before asking - I got my first one after the 2 nd and another a month later -so YMMV. Ask for 2 or 3x your current limit and let them counter or approve.
Re getting CLIs for utilization: Is there a point where this backfires?
CK dings me for utilizing under 1%, and I assume this has some basis in FICO. I was trying to get the magic "1-9% on one card, 0 on the rest" As the available CL grows, this becomes harder because:
a) I choose which card to use for what based on rewards, and I might not have all the needed spend on one particular card
b) that particular card might start having too high utilization (e.g. you have 20 $10K cards, 1% is $2,000. If you put that one card, you are at 20%)

Mine had a $1,200 starting limit when my only other cards were a $300 Capital One and a $600 Macy's (which may not have been reporting yet).
Ya I probably wait a few months then, thanks for the replies!
