I have had the card for 18 months.. started at the paltry $300 like many others. After 6 mths I asked for more and was denied BUT got a letter a week later for another $100. yippee! (scarasm)
anyway a couple of months later ried again and got denied then another $100 week later by mail.
At the 1 year mark with the AF I called the and asked them to wiave the AF, the countered with close the card if you don't want to pay the AF. So I PIF a few days later and called to close the card. They gave me to some specialist that offered me another $100 and waived the fee. I am at $600 right now and on my calendar I am calling them in a week to ask for another CLI. if they tell me no I plan on closing the card for good. I warned them last time I was tired of the CLI game, my credit scores as of lately are all low 700's, my utilization is about 8% and other than the target red card this is the lowest CC I have.
I might add I really dislike HSBC, they call me every 10 days to ask me to take thier creidt card insurance, I have told them no for the last 6 months and they still call.
What is most funny is, I have a BestBuy Biz Card with $15k CL that is also issued by HSBC.
It does not make sense they stick me with $300 BBMC Card with AF.
As soon as I get the card I'll call them to close the account.
I applied for the store card since I had no interest in the MC. I got a $600 cl (oh boy can you say shopping spree?) and waited to get my card in the mail to ask for a cli. Well, I received my card yesterday and I was told I have to wait 45 days to request a cli.
I should have waited until I was at the store to get the card, I have a feeling my limit would of been higher if I had. I did it online, patience isn't my best virtue.

Hi dollar_bill
I definitely think if you apply in the store, you might receive a higher limit. I have read posts here stating they have recieved higher limits applying in the store. Also i think if you go to the store and state you want to purschase something that is higher than your store credit card limit, the sales guy/gal will try to get an increase on your limit so you will be able to buy the item. I am of course speculating but it is worth a try. Again, i have read posts saying they did this exact behavior and their limit was increased.
Let us know if you decide to take this approach and what was the outcome.
my experience
300 cl (apped for WRONG cc online- doh clicked the WRONG button)
150 cli @ activation
200 auto cli on SECOND stmt
can't complain so far (only 3 stmts have cut). hoping for another auto cli @ 6 mos.
