How is Chase with CLI?

I got the Starbucks card with CL of $3500. I called for activation and asked for CLI to $5k. They approved it for $3800 with Hard Inq. ( $300 CL ). How is Chase with CLI? I understand BOA is very generous with CLI's. Is Chase the same way? When can I expect next CLI? How frequently Chase gives CLI's? Do they do auto CLI also?

Re: How is Chase with CLI?

I got my Chase card in March. I have not recieved any CLI although I have tried at least three times. 5500CL

The first was at activation, no go.

Second was about a month later after PIF'ing a rather large weekend away. No go.

The last was after my 4th statement. No go.

I've pushed it far enough for now with the luv button.

Now I have been approved for another chase card for 3500CL two weeks ago and combined the two cards as one.

They wouldn't give a CLI (sufficient credit for income), but will issue another card instead, then let me combine.

Round-about CLI ??

Don't know about auto and I'm sure my experience is different than some others.

BTW, They pull TU for me which is great, I have only two inq's on it right now and they are always a hard.

Re: How is Chase with CLI?

Chase is not as generous as BoA/FIA. All card holder requested CLIs will result in a hard pull, whereas an autos will not. They seem to be quite regular with auto's over the many years my wife has had her card (joint now). Averaging an auto CLI almost every year, except this past year, in varying amounts. It's seems that if you revolve a reasonable amount monthly, Chase will reward you. Again, they are not nearly as generous as BOA/FIA. When it comes to Chase and CLIs and who they will pull, it's definitely a YMMV situation.

Thanks for the input.  I dont like paying interest. I always do PIF. Would it be a negative with Chase?

As far as I'm concerned, PIF is never a negative, saving money is always more important to me. You could try charging the living-day-lights-out of the card every month and see if Chase responses favorably. They would stand to make a lot in transaction fees, if you put 40 charges a month on the card.

Re: How is Chase with CLI?

Thanks. I'll give it a try. Average my personal and business charges comes between $10-$18K / month. I try to charge them on different cards and do PIF so make every one happy. I'll never charge more than 30% of the CL so at best with my CL being $3800 I can charge $1K at a time and do PIF probably weekly, may be I can push $4k on the card / month and see what happens. Again, I have 2 cards with Citi each with more than $15K CL. I am not sure why I should tap dance to get CLI from Chase. I probably should charge $1k or $2k / month and see what happens in the next few months.

Re: How is Chase with CLI?

Concorduser, I love Chase but in my experience they reward only when you are using them a lot. For Example on the 3800 Card they are going to want to see you use the heck out of it before they consider a CLI. This is just my experience, and I love them. But seriously I have had to put lots through mine. For example nearly maxed it out twice! I did PIF but they like to see I am using them. Amex seems to be that way as well. Or maybe that is just how I interpret it.

Just my 2 cents.

Re: How is Chase with CLI?

During 2 different conversations, I was told to give it atleast 6 months before I asked. I think I will let them auto if they want since I need no more inquiry's.

Re: How is Chase with CLI?

Do you guys think I have any chance of getting a CLI with my Chase card? Right now it's $1900 and  it's almost maxed. I've gotten an automatic increase a couple times so far in the 2 years I've had this card. And the button where you can request the increase on the site isn't there for me so I would have to call. Is that a pretty good sign that they wouldn't do it since the button isn't there?

Re: How is Chase with CLI?

I dont mind using the card a lot. But I dont like the idea or exceeding 30-40% of CL. I would charge 30% pay it off and charge it again upto 30%.
