How is Chase with Product Change?

Did any one try to get a product change from Chase? How well do they take these product change requests? I remember reading some one changed their card to startbucks card. Does any one have experience in dealing the Chase product change?

I changed from a Chase Free Cash Rewards card to a Freedom card.  The speedy conversion went smoothly.  My account history also remained unchanged.

Re: How is Chase with Product Change?

Last Saturday, I did a product change from a Chase Freedom World MC to the Platinum version of that card.   The CSR was a sweet gal but wasn't very knowledgeable.

She  was not aware that a Platinum version existed for the Freedom World MC and tried to tell me that she would have to do a new application and switch me to a non-signature Freedom Visa card.  I stood my ground and she did find that what I was talking about was correct.

As she was reading through the screens, there was one that indicated that my rewards wouldn't transfer and I was about to bail.  But ... she did check the subsequent screens and the next one contradicted what the earlier screen said.  I don't know what the difference was in the two screens, but a supervisor cleared it up for her and reassured her that my rewards would transfer, and we proceeded.

She also incorrectly told me that I would not get a new number and card, but I did.  I'm glad I noticed the new account when I logged into Chase, because I was unprepared to be on the look-out for a new card.  My account detail on the new card mirrors the old card and I was told that the old card would be closed in 90 days.

Considering that a new account was established,  I will be curious to find out what will happen to the original account on the CRA reports and FICO scoring.  Will the account be deleted?  Will I be dinged for another new account? If it remains, will it be used to calculate the average age of accounts?

Re: How is Chase with Product Change?

I switched DW's regular Chase to Chase Freedom Signature VISA.  The CSR was a little hard to understand Smiley Happy but she was very helpfull.  She even tried to talk me out of the signiture card (although she never actually gave a reason why, and if she had I would have probably taken her advice).

Dawn:  The reason why your account number HAD to change was because you switched from a WORLD card, like our signiture card, the number is used to identify signiture (World) status, so a new number is manditory, BUT, DW's history was transfered to the new number with no problems.

The only strange thing is that when we log on to Chase on-line, it still (3 months later) shows us both accounts.  They show the same info, except for (1) account number and (2) no statements are generated for the old account.

Wouldn't it be nice if the CSRs given the task of helping us knew this?  Smiley Very Happy  It's kind of scary thinking that when you call, you may actually know more than the CSR does.

Nothing in general.  Some specific cards don't report correctly to the CB's.
