I'm escrow right now for a new house. I have my AMEX Costco card. But after hearing about backdating, I'd like to apply for an everyday card and add my kids to the AU.
Even though, my middle FICO 04 score ended up being 780 and they told me I needed 740 for the best credit, I don't want anything to mess up the process. So I know I should wait until after my loan closes.
Do I wait 6 months so that they can see the new mortgage isn't a problem or do I apply right after closing? I have quite a few inquiries due to rate shopping for my mortgage, but they'll be able to see that the inquiries are for a new mortgage.
780 is plenty high that it shouldnt be an issue either way

Seriously though, the OP is right. With your current scores you should be just fine.
I got my AMEX about a month after closing. It doesn't matter if it's soon after closing, or 6 months, either way they're going to take into account what you pay in your mortgage.
