How long before a card is not considered new?

Anybody have any Idea how long you have to have a card before fico does not recognize it as a new card?

What is considered a recently opened account? less than 1 year? less than 5 years?
Anyone know?

my guess is 6 months is newish and 12 months is not new
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

I opened a Citibank account in June, 2006.  Equifax considered this "recently opened" credit until June, 2007.  Experian and TransUnion seemed to forgive me for applying for new credit after about 6 months.

Barry correct me if I am wrong but you really start to gain point benefits after 24-27 months of age on our new accounts. Older than 12 months is no longer new and I think it stops hurting after 6 months. Sadly I start looking for the next one after I activate the new one. Smiley Wink

I have a card that was opened 1 year a two months ago, and Equifax is still considering that a new account. I have no idea when that annoying thing will disappear.
