How long does Discover product change take?

I called to product change my Discover student chrome to It last month and the CSR said no problem and the rewards structure would automatically update after the next statement post date and new card would be shipped.  But as of today one month later nothing has changed and no new cards or any email or snail mail communications.

I will give them a call later today but would like to know others’ experience.   Is this normal?  I somehow got the idea Discover product change was quick and BoA would take forever.

Our BoA product change took less than 3 weeks from the date we called to new cards in hand.

TIA!

Login and check here https://www.discover.com/credit-cards/card-conversion/  It should give you an idea of whether or not they actually processed it since if they didn't you will be able to pick your PC choice yourself and let the system process it.

Thanks!

I have checked that link quite a few times but it always perpetually said I was not eligible to switch until a date in the future.  Then I checked a few days later and the eligible date moved to a few days later, but always in the future.  That function somehow doesn’t work for this card.

Well, then the next option would be apply for the one you want and when it's eligible for a CLI combine them into a single card.  Usually Disco doesn't put up much resistance when it comes to cards.

Re: How long does Discover product change take?

My Discover PC was effective the day after the next statement posted.

I had the same issue as you with the always a future date via the online tool.

I called early May, my statement posts on the 6th. My new rewards was effective on June 7th.

I did not get a new card (they said one would be mailed, but it wasn’t-But I didn’t want a new card anyway so that was fine).

I only knew the change went through because I was able to enroll in 5% cashback categories.

Did your earning structure change?

Your cash back amount should be a good indicator if the change was processed internally

If it hasn't, give them a call.

Also, dont apply for cards you may not need as suggested, when this is an easily fixable problem. Save apps and new accounts  for when it really matters and no other options are viable.

That’s my impression too!

The thing is when I called the CSR did not indicate in anyway the card was eligible for a product change.  I suspect somehow she just did not initiate the conversion process correctly.   I will call again later today.

Thank you!   That’s what I was expecting.  Smiley Happy  Will give them another call.

No the earning structure didn’t change.  It still says 2% on gas and restaurants and 1% everything else.  I will give them a call later today.

No, certainly not going to apply another new card. I already have way too many new cards!  Smiley Happy  The only reason I am trying to product change this one is because it is my oldest card and I want to give it a breath of new life so I don’t end up losing it.

Thank you all for the advice!
