Roflol, so much for no credit limit! I think you did the right thing, pif. I suppose you could use the limit s on your other cards as a guide. I would think you'd be ok if you stay under the highest fixed limit you have, but what do I know?

I've found amex is generous with clis, they go 3X in 91 days. So, if expect they would ease up on a charge card limit in 91 days as well.

I think this is great advice, using your other cards as a guide. If this is a brand new account with American Express, they're going to be a little cautious for in my opinion a couple months. They'll see how you behave and adjust accordingly. they're pretty good as creditor.

Re: How long does it take for Amex to relax?

I think you guys are right.

i noticed my pay over time limit is currently 3 grand. So I figured my hidden limit would be a good deal higher than that. Curiosity got the best of me and I folded and decided to check my spending power at 5 grand and it was declined. And that was after I instantly made a $1600 payment after receiving the email. I was hoping my instant response to their email would have helped. But it has only been a couple days. It's possible their system hasn't caught up yet considering the money hasn't even left my bank account yet.

So at this exact moment I'm thinking my hidden limit is probably closer to that 2-3 grand mark. Which is still higher than my highest fixed credit limit. It's too bad, I have gotten offers for higher credit limits but I already have a lot of new accounts recently and I'm going to garden for a while. If the offers were for product changes/upgrades  so I didn't get hit with a new account I would do it. But as of right now I would be stuck accepting the new offers and then canceling my beginner cards but I'm not looking to do that right now.

if they go 3x after a few months like their credit cards I'll be happy.
