So I applied for an amex spg card just over a year ago and approved for 2k. I waited to do the cli after 61 days and did it early. Got a no. Waited a few more days and requested again. I was approved for a 3x increase. I then used the card and paid off, but the last two months of the six month period before requesting another I had a 50% balance. I paid that off and after it posted I appliced for another 3x increase. I was declined because of having the larger balance and min payments for the previous two months before paying off.
So I figured I would have to wait. For how long I did not know. In the next three months I had heavy usage. Charged and paid off, charged and paid off, charged and paid off. After about 3 months I was given and AUTO CLI of 2k!!! That was 2 months ago.
So the qustion is, when should I be able to request another CLI? How does their auto cli affect my ability to request a cli when they give me a lower increase than I would like?

I'm about to try a few more things.
I'm going for US Bank Premier personal line. They have been offering it for some time, but wanted my score to max out. 790 or so with zero balances, I didn't think about the 1 % hold to really max out.
I do have a business so I will be applying for US Bank business cash card. I have my business checking with them and a significant balance and a long history with them that should help.

I also want the Barclays Arrival World card at 2x miles. I went throught their auto pre approved type thing and they suggested the regular version or the Ring card. I would want either the 2x miles or the Ring.... To be honest, I'd like to have both. I had luck with applying for more than one card with chase, but I've heard that Barclays is really picky. So I'm not sure about that.
I thought about accepting one of the Bank of America offers, if only to up my total credit line. But I'm not sure I want to. I don't have any Citi cards. I did once when I was younger and screwed it up. Taken to court and paid almost 20 years ago. I applied last year along with my others mass applicatoins and my taxes were requested. I have no interest in doing that. Not because I can't, I just refuse to do that. My AAoA was about 4, which it still is because of the new cards last year.
Any thoughts?

I had requested my 6k to 18k in october of 13. They said no because of me carrying a balance and minimum payments. Even though I had just paid 3k off after holding it for 2 months. And I was heading into my high usage season so I just was going to wait until after I paid everyting off after the new year... Then they just added 2k making it 8.
So apparently it is truly just after you request it and not 6 months after they add it. That's good to know.
