How many Amex Apps

I was recently approved for Amex Gold Delta Sky Miles Card, Can I apply for another Amex or do I have to wait 30, 60, 90 days??

Technically, you can apply as often as you want.  But tread lightly with them.  You're asking for FR if you apply too often.

ETA: Congrats on your approval!  I love my Gold Delta Skymiles card!

That's what I was thinking, I initially applied for it because I heard it was the easiest Amex to get.  I wonder if they would convert it to their Amex Clear or Amex One card.  I've heard of peeps switching to the Blue card on activation from the Delta.  Wonder if they frown on it or not?  I may ask when I get the card unless the horror stories outweigh the good ones....lol.

You're right that the Gold Delta is the easiest credit card to get from Amex.  Here's what I know about converting the Delta:

Generally, you can product change to any of the Blue cards (Blue, Blue Cash, Blue Sky).

You can also product change to Starwood Preferred Guest Card (I think).

You CANNOT product change to Clear, One, or any of the charge cards like Green, Gold, or Platinum.  (The One card is actually a charge card.)

When you call to do it, make sure you use the phrase "product change" rather than "convert."  That phrase seems to be the key in getting what you want from them.

Do seriously think it through, though.  Even though they technically allow it, IMO it's kind of risky in this credit climate to backdoor your way into a card that you wouldn't qualify for if you applied for it with a cold app.

Understood.  I'll probably just use the Delta for 6  months or so and then Apply for the Clear.  Hopefully they'll send me a pre-app before then.  LOL, (yeah right).  It'll be years before I see a pre-approval, I've got a 677 EX FICO, but with loads of inquiries, probably over 60.  I'd be over 700 easy if I could lay off the apps.

Wowsa!!!  Sixty!

I want the Clear, too.  I know it's a very boring Amex card, but that suits me just fine.  My Delta Gold will turn 1 in September, right around the time my house should be finished.  I wonder if I could talk them into finishing early so I can attempt to swap the Clear and the DG. 

Cheddar:  Why can't I product change to the Clear?  I didn't realize this!  Please elaborate, ty.
