How many Cards do/can you actively manage at any one time.

Im talking about Open, In-Use, Pay Monthly Cards and what's their purpose... SD'd Cards with 0 Balances do not count. You can also count LOCs as well if your use it regularly.

I've come to hate having to Manage/Pay on more than 4 cards/ TLs in any one month.... Which is why I consolidated most of my Cards on to my Duck Card, much easier work down the balances this way.

Right now my "In-Use" TLs are:

- Duck Card - For Recent BT's (6k in total BTs)

- Discover It - Everyday Spending Card (PIF every month before Statement Cut)

- Chase Ink Classic - Auto Bill Payments Card (PIF every month before Statement Cut)

- Walmart Discover - DD is AU, let her use the account while in College, I have no use for it otherwise (PIF sometimes before, sometime after SC)

- BML - Only used for Big Ticket Items where I can get the 6 months NP/NI deals (POT but always PIF before NP/NI deal expires)

- Amazon Store Credit - Big Amazon Shopper for the little things needed (PIF within 2 weeks of purchases, never have a high balance)

Re: How many Cards do/can you actively manage at any one time.

I wish I had better cards. Waiting for our refinance to close before apping for some better ones.

Cap 1 Platinum - Contacted EO about a month ago to have %1.5 reward added so this is basically the only card I use right now. We've ran about $2,000 through it so far. Wish we could have been getting %3-%5 rewards on that amount though....

We have another Cap 1 that has no rewards which we basically don't use. It's my DW and I'm an AU and then we have a handful of retail cards that we only use occasionally to keep them active.

I'm hoping for a BCP, Freedom and Discover IT next month.

Currently I'm managing around 8 - 9 cards (actively using them) at the same time with the help of a spreadsheet.  They're all in my sig.

Re: How many Cards do/can you actively manage at any one time.

I can manage 4-5 easy. I PIF on everyday stuff or larger planned purchases. Sometimes I carry a balance for large purchases too maybe 2 months, maybe 5 months it just depends.
I've only been carry balance on Cap 1 to get my CLI. Got 1 payment left. I don't really count it (even though it's an account I must pay) because it won't be a regular use card. Total SD.

Sallie Mae Gas & Groceries
Chase Freedom I've used a lot when they had 5% on gas & a couple times for UR mall. They have 1% for any other purchases.
Discover It is replacing my More for online shopping through Shop Discover. I don't use it every single month, hadn't used DS since Aug until last week. It depends on if there is something I want to purchase. It's also great for car rental I use Enterprise exclusively & they give 5% CB through Shop Discover & sometimes they have the 5% gas too (which is great Sallie is capped at $250 a month). I will be using it heavily for Xmas shopping.
My Amex gives 3% on groceries (Sallie Mae is capped $250) unfortunately I forgot to use last month om over a $100 of groceries! It gives 2% for gas. On those purchases I PIF but it's been carry a balance for a fewmonths & will ccontinue to do so until after my divorce.
I have a MC from my bank I'm carry a small balance (just reported) not really sure if I will make few small payments or what. I'd like to get a CLI the beginning of the year but I don't know how good they are about it. Only 1k CL. The rewards structure for online is comparable to Shop Discover but with 1k CL I won't be using it much. If I get an increase I've no problem using for next year holiday shopping.
Also
Walmart card will be after SD after I make this $30 payment. I only got it for the TU score monitoring (and now Sallie Mae offers it go figure) & they had a promo spend $75 get $25 statement credit. I spent $80 it was a good deal.

Re: How many Cards do/can you actively manage at any one time.

14. And while this can be a pita, I believe it's really helped my credit building journey and score. Not only has it shown I can manage credit wisely and responsibly, it's built a thick file. Thicker files take less of hit when changes occur, such as adding new accounts. As older closed accounts roll over reports, I add one or two here and there. Yes, I take a hit for AAoA, but I believe I eventually benefit from it. I've got the cards I want, for the most part. Now, I plan on just growing those lines and trimming a few of the rebuilders. (Mainly, rebuilders with annual fees). A few I've let them close due to inactivity, as I don't need them. Annual fee cards don't...imagine that! I have one left that's on the chopping block. I think I'll be gardening for awhile, as my progression has me waning for the 800 club!

I also use a spreadsheet. Sometimes I use my cc's for the rewards. Sometimes for the 0% APR. Sometimes, just to keep them active.

Re: How many Cards do/can you actively manage at any one time.

11. No problems so far with putting each to use.

Fingerhut gets charged and then pay $20 a month. After that, take a month(or two) off from using it.

Victoria Secrets get charged and PIF. Take a month(or two) off from using it, then use it again. Unless someone in my family asks me to charge something and reimburses me.

Walmart will be used monthly then get PIF

The Capital One 0%intro offer on one card is up in Nov.  BOTH will now be getting PIF. 1 card has reoccuring monthly(electric, phone, water) charges which get ran through it. Another is used for small ticket items.

Discover is used for the 5% back. I'll be running Cyber Monday charges through it. Currently taking advantage of the 0% intro offer.

Citi is used for their cashback categories as well. My monthly heating oil charge will be ran through that for the winter. Currently taking advantage of the 0% Intro offer.

My Points is used for groceries. 0% offer on that as well.

Chase Slate has a balance transfer on it that I pay down monthly. I don't charge anything else to it.

Paypal is used for Paypal purchases as well as takeout orders. Always PIF.

Amazon is used for Amazon purchases(I LIVE at Amazon) and then PIF.
