Oh man. I hope they don't get pissed off at the fact that I just wanted to have a more usable limit for my AARP. I closed out my SW card (it was mainly to get in with Chase in the first place) and I think just to be safe, I'll leave the Ritz open for much much longer and keep that one in the next year depending on whether I find that benefits outweigh the costs. I learn something new from this forum literally every day.

I think you'll be ok popamode72, but whatever you do, do not re-apply for any SWA CC for a long while.  And, be sure to keep your Ritz beyond 1-2 years.  If you close your Rtiz by next year to avoid AF and you have a record of closing your SWA prematurely, this can be a red flag.  As you know, Chase is not fond of churning.  Granted your premise may not have been such intention (maybe?) but they don't know that - they simply evaluate and periodically review your overall relationship to determine profitability.  So, word of the wise, fly low on the radar and don't draw unneeded attention and carefully evaluate your products.

Since August and I'm probably never doing that again now that I've read what you've two have had to say about Chase. I really wanted to make the AARP even more of a mainstay in my wallet and just felt like I didn't need the SW card at that point.

I wouldn't fret too much with you doing it one time. Just try to not make a habit of it, Like if they offered 50K on a SWA Plus next month and you apped it, then closed that as well when you rec'd the spend bonus, You'd be flagged then.

Yes exactly. I mean.....however. Don't keep something you can't afford to keep just to make a bank happy. But like Fin said, Keep out of the SWA flightpath for a while.

I see. Yeah, I have no interest in having any of the Southwest cards again anyway, even if they offered a bigger sign up bonus in the next year. I also heavily based my decision on Credit Pulls stats and just went for anything that would get my foot in the door, kinda like what I did with the Amex Gold Delta Skymiles card which once that turns 13 months old I will do the same thing.

Tradelines: Macy’s - $18k, Penfed Power Cash Rewards - $10k, Ethan Allen (TD Bank) - $5.7k, Kay Jewelers - $5.5k, Appliances Connection - $5.3k, Jared - $5.25k, Best Buy (Citi) - $5k, Dell Preferred Account - $3.5k, Samsung - $3.2k, Firestone CFNA - $3.2k, Capital One Platinum - $3k, Mercury MC - $2.25k, Williams Sonoma - $2.1k, Wayfair (Fortiva) - $2k, Amazon Store Card - $1.8k, Apple Card - $1.7k, NFCU cashRewards - $1.5k, CareCredit - $1.5k, B&H Photo - $1.5k, Adorama - $1.25k, Ebay MC - $1k, Sam’s Club MC - $1k, American Eagle - $1k, Ollo MC - $600, Mission Lane Visa - $500, NY & Company - $500, Walgreens - $500, Home Depot - $500, Target RED Card - $500, CapOne Secured MC 0 AF - $500, Penfed Overdraft LOC - $500

I'll take your advice. The Ritz will remain open. Like you said in another thread, sometimes you have to pay to play.

Lol. I guess I just kinda did that inadvertedly. I knew my scores were in range for approval and I just happened to check the mail that day and found an SWA invite with a good pts offer, plugged in the numbers and pressed submit.

Instapproved, then came on here after trying to recon the CL and apped for the CSP within the same hour. And the rest is history.

Funny thing about that is that just a month before, I had tried getting in with them through the Amazon card and denied for that even on recon. Freedom I had tried a few times before as well.

And oh yeah, that Amex card I also applied for because I saw on Credit Karma how easily people were getting approved for it last summer. Both of these cards were mainly stepping stones to give these CC companies some history so I could then get the cards I actually wanted in the first place.

Re: How many chase cards do you have?

Interesting thing they told me in SM today. They said that I have up to 90 days if I want to reopen my Southwest card account. As far as I'm concerned though, I don't want any more trouble with Chase so I'll just let things stay the way they are now.
