Why would anyone do that. Even if you have to wait until you're below 5/24, giving up a 100k bonus is flat out wrong, 100% of the time

The two aren't necessarily tied together.  If you apply for the card and are denied then PCing to it is your only option if you want the card.  You aren't 'giving up' 100K points because you weren't going to get it anyways.  PCing to it now doesn't mean that you can't apply for it again once you're below 5/24.  Very easy to do.

I don't view it as "giving up" because if you are over 5/24, you aren't getting the bonus anyway because you won't be approved.

As far as waiting, there's nothing wrong with it in theory, but most people have a 12, 18 or even longer month wait before they can apply. There's absolutely no guarantee the existing card/bonus/reward structure will be around at that point. Things change.

You can PC now, use the card and it's benefits without a new account or inquiry, close the card when you are 5/24 (18 months for me), App the same day for the bonus and new card (if all that is worth the 100k or whatever the bonus is then) as you have not received the CSR bonus in the last 24 months.

You will get the bonus the exact time you would have if you were keeping CSP instead of PC'ing. But, it might be smart to have another Chase card around to move the old limit to while you Close and re-open the CSR, move the limit back and make it a monster.

I may just PC, keep the card, and not go through all of that.

Re: How many of you in here PC to the CSR?

Planning on a mortgage in the near future, so I don't want to apply for new credit. My plan is to PC my CSP to the CSR, utilize the benefits such as 2x300 travel credits and 3x points, and then downgrade/cancel the card before the 2nd AF hits. That way I am still $150 ahead during the first year and can utilize the benefits in leiu of missing the 100k bonus. Once I downgrade/cancel, I'll re-apply for the CSR and receive whatever the bonus is at that time. Any insight as to why this wouldn't be a good plan?

Re: How many of you in here PC to the CSR?

I'm over 24/24 and wont be under 5/24 until 8/2018. My plan is to PC my CSP to the CSR to take advantage of the benefits. In the meantime, I'll have my wife apply for the CSR to get the bonus and also independently take advantage of the bonus. When I fall below 5/24, I will PC to something else and will apply for the bonus.
