My Amex Hilton is coming up on it's 61 day mark next week. I'd like to ask for an increase but I don't feel confident about being approved for the full 3x.
My specs are in my signature. My Experian report has 5 inquiries - 1 from August, 3 from October, and 1 from December, so all are within the past 6 months! This is the main reason I'm gunshy on asking for 3x. My accounts are all new since I'm building my portfolio.
How much of an increase do you think I should request?

Ask for 5500. If they won't approve you its a counter offer... If I'm not mistaken its an automated system so you don't have to worry about talking to a live rep when you ask

They could also just outright deny me, yes?

Hey isoldmyatlas!
yes, it could be an out right denial but that would be the answer for any CLI request if you don't qualify. I recommend the full 3X always. If you qualify for any CLI, they will counter with that amount but will only approve you for the amount you request even if you qualify for the full 3X. JMHA. ![]()

+1
Why not go the distance? If you don't qualify, they'll counter and it's a SP. What do you have to lose?
Is this true of all cards- 61 days and then request an increase?
Or is this just an Amex thing?
