During WWII, an RAF pilot was shot down over England, and landed in a farmer's field. The farmer ran up to the pilot and the pilot asked the farmer where he was.

The farmer replied: "you are standing in the middle of a recently plowed field, 400 yards from a tree line, with a stream running behind it, on a clear day, and mild temperatures."

The pilot responded: "Thank you. You must be an accountant."
The farmer said: "Why yes I am. Why do you ask?"
The pilot responded: "You just gave me some very detailed, accurate, well explained....useless information". Smiley Happy Smiley Happy

Please do not take offense to the joke. I am just computer challenged, and only somewhat understand what was said. And thanks once again. Smiley Happy

Then there was this balloonist who got lost in the Northweast and found himself next to a skyscraper.  He asked a guy inside where he was, and was told "you are in a ballon 65 stories above ground level".

The ballonoist replied - Ah, now I know where I am. You just gave me some detailed, accurate and useless information - so this must be Microsoft Tech Service.

The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Sylviatob and MV, LOL, really. Smiley Happy

I was at a seminar this past summer where we did an exercise to see what kind of animal we are like (in a business way). There were 4: golden retriever - loyalty, lion - dominance, otter - outgoing and compassionate and beaver - data nut who might even hold back projects for useless information. j/k

Guess which animal I leaned most towards? Smiley Wink

Really, when it comes down to personal computing, no one size fits all. The basics would be to purchase a good brand from a reputable dealer. Good manufacturer service and support and that the machine meets your software needs.

Thanks Penguin, and everyone. Smiley Happy

Well, I went and did it. Bought the Dell, put it on my cc. It was by FAR the largest single cc purchase I've ever made.

They sure better like what I got 'em!

Well, I did break down and app'd Thursday night for a new GapCard, then stayed up and shopped at gap.com and oldnavy.com. Shopped for roughly $225 total before I fell asleep. Smiley Wink

As of today, I haven't seen any inquiry from Gap/GEMB.

This is interesting...as of today, 5 days later (or ~3 biz days):

ScoreWatch and TrueCredit report my new GapCard TL, but no signs of an inquiry. I do see an inquiry from August for PayPal/GEMB. So either they soft pulled and I can't see/find it or they're using my August inquiry?

Ack, this is making me curious enough to consider app'ing for another GEMB card.
