Re: How often do you have to make purchases with store credit card to avoid the account being closed

I have a lot of store cards. I try to use them at least once every 3 months. I have trimmed away some cards that I found I will never really use. But as long as you dont let them sit in your drawer unused for 6-12 months, you should be fine. Some people can get away with not using a card for a long time, but then there are the others of us who can be hit with closure.

If I'm not using it regularly, I'll do it at least once every couple of months, hoping to minimize the risk.

I Love Amazon.  I think the general rule of thumb with any card is at least once every 6 months. But many prefer to do every 3 months or so to be safe.  I follow this rule with most of my cards, though I have one that hasn't had use in about 9-10 months and it's still good to go, I plan to use it very soon though to be safe.
