How often do you hit the CLI button?

How often do you seek CLIs via the CLI button (SPs)?  Have you noticed any trends in granting/denying them with particular lenders? I have only sought them once in all my years, just wondering when I can/should do it again. 3 months? 6 months?

Re: How often do you hit the CLI button?

I've tried it several times with Citi and I've always been denied so I'm just gonna give them six months and try again.

Synchrony always denies me when I press the luv button but gives me good auto CLIs instead.

Amex has been my most successful CLI via luv button.

In terms of how often you are elgible for a CLI the rules for each lender are different, so you will have to research your particular lender's policies.

I understand that; I am interested in people's experiences with CLIs and noticing trends with particular lenders all the same. Smiley Happy

Re: How often do you hit the CLI button?

From my experience I have found:

1. All my lender (see sig.) except for Discover have a firm 6 month wait between CLI. Once I got 15K on Citi, I called Discover and asked for the same limit. I got a counter offer of 14.5K. I also gave the reason my wife is an AU on my Discover and would be nice to have a buffer when was asked why.

2. All my pulls I have ensured were SP. Chase CSR said they can only give a max limit of 6K with a SP. Previous to that my Chase Freedom was at 3K.

3. I had Cap1 Venture with a starting limit of 7.5K. I did not use it much and requested a CLI and was denied due to low usage but the denial letter includes your Fico score. Since its a SP its rather worth something Smiley Happy

I only recently started requesting CLI after reading how it impacts the score and would suggest doing so whenever you are eligible. I would also ensure they are SP.
