I assume it depends on the card. Both Sam's and Walmart credit cards come with free TU scores so they update monthly. I'm sure someone else can offer more insight to your query.
Last June I tried for a CLI on my Lowe's card, and it was turned down due to a credit report from 02/2016. Since my last 'baddie' had just dropped a few weeks prior this made a big difference for me.
I took the advice of some friends on here and gave Credit Solutions a call... I was put on hold for a few minutes while a fresh SP was done (they do that automatically) and I got my CLI... new CL was/is $20k.
There are a few different number for CS; I prefer the overseas one... 877-379-8173.

Thanks for the tip. My current limit is only $500. What should I ask for?
It will really depend on your TU (and how much it's improved since your approval). If you're under 700 you will be more limited, with scores of 730-ish and higher having the best luck with the 'big' CLIs.
The good thing is that Credit Solutions does counter, so you can aim high... you might consider $5k.
Something else to consider... you can call back as often as you would like; some have reported even calling back the next day if they felt they had "left some on the table", although I wouldn't recommend being that aggressive these days due to the blue envelope drama.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

+1 Good luck.
I wonder if I may have to wait a bit longer after all to try a new CLI on my Amazon card. I was meaning to later this month, but my TU FICO score (which Sync tracks and shows on my account) dropped by 3 points. Ironically perhaps, it was because of the $99.99 annual charge that got dropped on the card when I upgraded to Amazon Prime...I should have gone for the monthly charge after all. Oh well, nothing to do but pay it down and try the CLI next month...
