Unless the policy has changed, it was after 9 months before an increase could be granted. I have reached the Max I can receive from BOFA
I have always asked and got CLI on activation. When you activate a card ask to increase CL, most likely they transfer you to credit analyst, who will ask you why you need an increase. (My usual reason is keep util. low.)

I recently got a BoA CC with not the limit I was looking for so would like to know how to go about getting a CLI to at least double what they are giving me now.
My new Chase Freedom card arrived today - credit limit $2000. When I called to activate, the rep was really nice explaining all the benefits of the card (and to my complete shock she did NOT try to sell me on any insurance/protection features!).
She asked how I was planning to use the card, and I mentioned that I would like to use the card as my "everyday" card to run all my monthly purchases through - and used that as a segway to say "would it be possible to get a higher credit limit?" to avoid maxing out the card every month.
She was able to process the request right then (it did involve an Experian hard pull) - but my limit was immeditely upped to $5000 which I'm really so excited about!
My only other cards at the moment are Capital One $1050 CL (started at $500 6 months ago) and Discover $1250 CL (started at $1000 8 months ago) - so this $5000 limit is huge for me
