How to establish card usage and payment history

Hello all,

I recently opened a few new lines of credit, one of which I will likelly be using much more than the others, but I am looking for ways to show usage on the other cards for payment history, and for CLI's later on. My plan is to set up Netflix on one card, Hulu plus on another, and my Playstions plus membership on the third, and then just have them autpay every month, so I keep the balances off, and they're paid off as well. I'm curious if anyone has done this and if it works to satisfy the lenders enough to get CLI's and good payment history for better card approvals? The cards I'm setting up for these are Capitol One Platinum, Capitol one Playstation rewards (also used for PSN purchases) and the Discover IT card (which will be used regularly anyways). Any thought? I'm in the garden for 6 months minimum now.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum

I do this with cards I otherwise would not use to keep them alive. But by doing this I do not expect a CLI for a monthly Netflix or Hulu charge. What could be done is rotate your cards and make every month another card your main card. Like this it would show usage and payment history and the charges would be a bit higher and possibly offer better chances for CLIs. Just an idea.

That sounds good. The Playstation card will get used for purchases on the PSN store, games, download able content and subscriptions. The Discover will be my daily driver I think. It has the best rewards. I'll have to just try to rotate the Capitol One in, maybe every other month for leisurely purchases? Electronics or nights out or something. I just want to make sure I'm growing these cards, and don't get any closed on me. I had a card closed after not using it for a year. Non of these new cards have fees, so I'm sure unless I do something, I'll forget about them.
